Mygen.co.uk is a GREAT website to create your own layout. I do not think they have a collage option, although you CAN upload your own picture to be your background. If you save a collage of photos on your own computer, you can upload it to Mygen as your background. They create all the layout codes for you, but you still get to pick your images, fonts, sizes, colors, etc. They also have many generators for different contact tables, extended network images, etc. If you get experimental on creating things, you can submit them to their premade profiles, for others who want layouts.

The links you posted default to my own bulletin board and profile page, not yours (it depends on how you're logged on).
Below are a couple of links from the MySpace forums which explain how to change the background. It helps if you have some knowledge of HTML and CSS. If not, there are a lot of third-party web sites that will allow you to customize your profile page. Just do a Google search on "MySpace layouts."

Go use thomas's myspace editor (don't remember the link)... You can make YOUR OWN backgrounds instead of having what everyone else's is... To actually find a background, find a background pic you like somewhere, and if you don't want to link from the original site, save it to your computer and upload it to imageshack.com (free image hosting service) and link it from that with the "direct link"... I think you have to sign up for an account, but it is free... I used to make my own on photoshop then upload them... It may take some time to find what colors look right with the myspace editor, but it's worth having something original instead of what everyone else uses...
my suggestion to you is to look at other people myspaces and there will be a link on their page to go to where they got all their cool stuff from. usually it is in the upper left hand corner
It was working fine, but now, for some reason, every time I try to add a layout (background), it says "Excessive Bandwidth usage". I did not change anything. At one point it said I could replace it by using a "thumbnail" (?) that uses less bandwidth usage. As you can tell- I don't have a clue! Anyone "been there, done that"?
I don't use myspace, but you would likely get the excessive bandwidth usage based on the amount of memory /space the background uses (how many KB or MB it uses)
Where was the background created? Is it a bitmap (such as MS Paint) or jpeg (such as photoshop)? jpeg uses less "space" because of the way it saves.
Also what resolution did you use (300 dot per inch, 600dpi kind of thing) higher the resolution the more memory required.

When they mention thumbnail they are talking about using a smaller graphic that is then expanded to fill the "display area"
which brings up another question how big (ie 7inch x 12 inch) is the size of your original document? That will eat up space as well (depending on file type, dpi, etc)

I remove EVERYTHING in the edit profile section, and still I return to my profile and it's gray! I even deleted every comment from people on my page that had an html code like say a video. STILL GRAY!!!! Im getting so furious!!!! HELP PLEASE!
The only reason that would happen is if you still have things saved in the Myspace Profile Editor.
Go here, click Clear All, then Save. It should go back to normal.

If you remove everything from your edit profile section...of course the background is going to be gray because every myspace background on every profile will return to the default gray background if you delete everything.
If you want a background, go onto a site like www.codemylayout.com and search for a background you like (or make your own like I do with their profile editor) and then copy and paste the code into your 'About Me' section. Then REMEMBER to click 'Save Changes'
If you want to be doubly sure that your changes are going to show up....click 'Preview Section'. That way you'll be able to see what your changes are going to look like.

Just sign up at Skem9.com , then head over to their forum, look in the Layout Request category, click the Layout Makers list thread and message any one of those peoples listed on Skem to make you a layout.
Go to an image host site like tinypic.com..........upload your picture then copy the 3rd code and go to a site that offers a code generator(to create your own background)......enter the code ( the http://) where it asks for it on the generator format........then copy and paste the whole code generated and add it to your profile.

I personally don't have a myspace account, but I am a webpage designer (as a hobby), and you can use any imaging program to make a collage that would repeat itself. In other words, create an image about 800x600 (or any other length, but I would advise keeping the width to about 800/860.), and collage all of your photos, but make sure that they will repeat w/o any fragmented portions. So avoid borders and images cut off the side of the image. I like to use Macromedia Fireworks, and I've tried Paint Shop Pro. However, I've heard that Adobe Photoshop CS works amazingly well. Good luck with this!

they have a layout generator that does that. i made my layout with them its really cool.
You need to find a bigger image to use as the background. The one you are currenly using repeats itself because it has smaller pixel dimensions. [i.e. 320x456, instead of 3846x3728]. Try searching Google Images for a bigger one. If it's your personal photograph that's too small, you may need to buy a better digital camera.
i think there's a code to have it centered in the middle, but it shows part of the background color since it's not big enough. try googling myspace codes, since i'm not really sure of the code.

All you have to do is make a background using myspace profile editor, if you do that it will automatically set it to where people can still see your background even if your page is set to private. The background will be the same as the one you use for your myspace page. And if you want to make sure it worked you can signout of your myspace and search for yourself.

go to the URL where you got the background image from, then hold Ctrl+ Print Screen (on your keyboard), then go to start%26gt;all programs%26gt;accessories%26gt;paint, then click on the paint thing and hold Ctrl+V. Some kind of moveable drawing of the screen should appear, and the background image should be part of it. Select the dotted square paint tool and use it to crop around the background image only, then right click the background image and choose copy. Next, choose file and choose new, then hold Ctrl+V again and then only the background image will show up. Choose the magnifying glass paint tool and select 2x, which will make the background image larger. Do the print screen thing again, crop around the larger image, copy it, open a new paint, and then hold Ctrl+V to pate the larger image. Save the larger image and upload it somewhere online (i.e. in your myspace photos), then right click the image online and choose properties, and where it says URL use that URL for your backround image.

You erase your html code of the background you want to take out then you find the background you want and but the html code in the same spot.
First, you should choose the background you like by going to different websites such as Hotfreelayouts or Nuclearcentury.com. You can go into the HTML for your profile and change the background color for the inner element, but the easiest way would be to use snaplayout.

the only way to combine more than 1 picture as your background (on a default) is using photoshop, gimpshop, paint, or any picture editing program, other than that you can't.

No, thier all wrong. When you view pictures, you are actually downloading them. This draws physical memory space from the hosting server which is called bandwidth. Photobucket wants to share out bandwidth evenly between clients so they limit the amount of times it can be downloaded. When you got the code every one else that used the code is displaying the same image on thier myspace and is gettign that message too. So upload a copy of the picture on a personal account of yours and use that instead.
do you still have the photobucket account or the picture in the account? if it's not there, then it would probably do that.
instead, upload the picture at tinypic.com and then create the layout again.
u ran out of space at photobucket go to your photo account and delete some stuff or create a new one and re upload the pics there. And btw thats the best thing to do, get a new account. It becomes a headache when the bandwith is up.
The person that made it, deleted it off of their photobucket because when you make icons or layouts you must keep them in your photobucket in order for them to show up. But idk how to fix it.

I had the background a certin tanish color and the past 2 nights, it defaults to a light grey/silver color. I have the standard .css backgraound code and just added this: body.bodyContent {background-color:DEB887 !important}
I have tried it with and without the new code.
Here's the weird part,
Half of the people I asked to to visit my page said they saw it in tan ( the color it is suppose to be ) and the other half ( including myself) see's in in light grey/silver ( which it is NOT suppose to be)

Me too. I kept on signing in and out thinking that it would show my background which was blue glittery. I thought well the layout code just ain't working no more so i deleted that layout and put a different in and there was no gray on that.

1.the background ahsnt fully loaded. my background is pink and white but it shows up black because it hasnt fully loaded.
or
2. Your layout may not work in a certain internet programme eg mozilla,firefox,internet explorer. Thats the case in most problems.

I've been having a problem with my background image for two days now. Didn't change a thing in the html but now instead of my image stretching all the way across the screen it is really small. There's nothing wrong with the image host either. I even tried a different uploader and still have the same problem. I wonder now if my problem is related to yours.
A few months back Myspace was doing some upgrades and a lot of peoples music wouldn't load. It started working again after about a week for me. Hopefully this is something that will fix itself. But who knows.
Funny thing you talk about the Music Player. I believe this glitch was partly cause of the the upgraded music player myspace has been using since yesterday. I have been getting the same problem since then ..or Since they are trying to get the profile editor to Firefox (Only Browser I'm using at this time) it is a coding issue with the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Who knows. Im recoding my page anyways. (Word and Trial and Error FTW)
Anybody realize that the Background color is the default homepage color. I would also think that the background coding for myspace has superiority over any code you input on the about me section.
Here's what's up.
"They" have hardcoded the color #e5e5e5 into the body tag, which overrides the css settings.
It doesn't, however, override the background-image setting in the stylesheet.
To hack it to make it work, make a 1x1 px image, upload it to a web host, and put this in the css on your myspace:

background-image: url('http://domain.com/bgcolor.gif');
background-repeat: repeat;
}
Obviously, change everything in the single quotes to the url of your uploaded colored pixel. Ignore the ... put after the background-image line, it's automatically linking for some reason.

I had the same problem. They've changed the #bodyContent CSS element to have the background (I think).
Try using this in your CSS code:

some codes just dont work, if the code was ot put together properly. you might need to choose another layout.
Sometimes the url in the layout is a bad url. If you're really good with html, then track down the url. If you aren't, then find a similar layout.

I always recommend Skem9 for layouts. They are reputable and approved by all the long-time myspacers. You will find lots of layouts, bunches of customizing codes, and best of all there is a forum where you can get help if you run into problems.
Search the internet for "MySpace Layouts." Find one you like, and put it in one of the boxes in the thing for editing your myspace.

the only way i know how to do that is, open paint. put all the pictures you want to be in the background into your paint session and then save it. upload onto photobucket/tinypic/whatever you have. and then put the url you get into %26lt;background img=" "%26gt;.

also on myspace u can creat and edit your own on profile editer on top right corner when u click on edit profile..

ye u can, if you go onto a siite where you get a myspace layout fromm, then there maby sections where you can get html to hide em.
you just have to turn your profile on private!

just google myspace backround and put the url in your profile
use mygen.co.uk to make your layout. it gives you the option of making it positioned instead of tiled.
Find this in the code:
background-repeat:repeat;
Change it to this:
background-repeat:no-repeat;
There's a built in tool for myspace, that will allow you to do that... take a look around for it, it's only available for IE (Internet Explorer). It's called something like "myspace editor" Not sure what it's called, but i use it.

Choose the layout that you like, copy the code, go to EDIT PROFILE on your home page paste in ABOUT ME section.

Go to: Pimp-My-Profile.com. They have literally thousands of different backgrounds to choose from. I've used them twice with great results.

you pick the background you like then select and copy the code into the about me section go to preview section or just save without previewing...
than go home and click on profile......
