So on other peoples backgrounds they have like a white layer where everything appears and under that is the regular layout but on mine it doesnt do that?
Is it because of my layout or is it a custom thing?

Its because of the layout you chose. Some have it where everything appears and some dont. You just have to choose the right one to fit what your wanting
